Die Tour wurde im Mai 1983 zur Unterstützung von David Bowies Album Let's Dance ins Leben gerufen. Sie wurde am 18. Mai 1983 im Vorst Forest Nationaal in Brüssel eröffnet und endete am 8. Dezember 1983 im Hong Kong Coliseum. Die Bowie-Band hat in diesem Zeiraum 15 Länder besucht, 96 Gigs gespielt und über 2, 6 Millionen Tickets verkauft.
Die Tour erhielt überwiegend positive Kritiken von der Presse. Es war zu dieser Zeit seine längste, größte und erfolgreichste Konzerttournee, obwohl sie seitdem durch nachfolgende Bowie-Touren in Länge, Besucherzahl und Bruttoeinnahmen übertroffen wurde.
Die Band war mit namenhaften Musikern wie Earl Slick, Carlos Alomar oder Tony Thomson besetzt. Der Mitschnitt stammt aus dem Montral Forum und wurde damals im Rahmen der renommierten King Biscuit Flower Hour Radio-Serie gesendet.

Bowie embarked upon this tour to promote his 15th studio album »Let's Dance«, produced by music maestro and Chic guitarist, Nile Rodgers. Racking up 98 dates across 15 countries, it sold in excess of 2.6 million tickets worldwide, delighting die-hard fans and bringing this more 'accessible' Bowie to a whole new generation of audiences, showcasing his body of work spanning some 15 years. The collection of Bowie's greatest hits here are taken from his exquisite performance at the Montreal Forum, Canada, on 12th July 1983, broadcast on the King Biscuit Flower Hour radio show, the first of a two-night stand at the venue and rewarded audiences with fan favourites from 13 studio albums. »From Space Oddity« (1969 self-titled second album), all the way to the (then) present hits from »Let's Dance«.
