John Henry Deighton - the London born soul singer known as Chris Farlowe - has long been highly rated by his fellow artists. When Chris signed to Andrew Oldham’s Immediate label as a solo artist, he was much encouraged by the Rolling Stones. Farlowe enjoyed a hit single with the driving ‘Think’ in 1966 and the song takes pride of place on his second album, released the same
year. We can hear the Otis Redding influence on performances like ‘In The Midnight Hour’ and ‘Mr. Pitiful’, and this collection brings back happy memories of the great Sixties’ soul scene.
