Cherry Glazerr haben »Apocalipstick« in den Sunset Sound Studios in Hollywood mit den bekannten Produzenten Joe Chicarrelli (The Strokes, The White Stripes) und Carlos De La Garza (Bleached, M83) aufgenommen. Seit ihrer vorherigen Platte »Haxel Princess« hat sich einiges getan in der Band. So ist nur noch Sängerin Clementine Creevy von der ursprünglichen Besetzung dabei und wird nun von dem lauten Drummer Tabor Allen und der Multiinstrumentalistin Sasami Ashworth unterstützt.
Ashworth spielt die Synthies und erstaunlicherweise auch Waldhorn, allerdings überlegt Clem noch, wie man das in den Sound von Cherry Glazerr einbauen könnte. Bei der ersten Jamsession haben sie sich selbst umgehauen. »Meine Welt stand Kopf«, sagt Clementine. »Ich hatte noch nie mit Leuten gespielt, die technisch so versiert sind. Das war schon der Wahnsinn. Ich dachte, wow, ich muss noch 'ne Scheibe drauf legen!« Das hat sie getan und so entstand die großartige neue Platte »Apocalipstick«.
Vorab sind die Singles »Nurse Ratched« und »Told You I'd Be With Guys« erschienen, die von der New York Times, LA Times und Pitchfork hochgelobt wurden.
