The SACD uses a higher digital resolution than the audio CD and also offers the possibility to store multi-channel sound (surround sound). To enjoy the music in high-end quality, a special SACD player is required. Thanks to the hybrid function, most of the products marked "SACD" in our store can also be played on conventional CD players. In this case, however, the sound does not differ from that of a normal CD. In case of deviations, we point this out separately (non-hybrid).

Das Publikum war begeistert von dieser neuartigen Verschmelzung von

Jazz-, Blues- und Rockmusik. Die ursprüngliche Besetzung bestand aus

Al Kooper (Keyboards, Gesang), Jim Fielder (Gitane, Bass), Steve Katz

(Gitarre) und Bobby Colomby (Schlagzeug) sowie der Bläsersektion Fred

Lipsius, Randy Brecker, Jerry Weiss und Dick Halligan. Das erste Album

'Child ls Father To The Man'(1968) Gilt heute als ein insbesondere von

Kritikern hoch gelobter Klassiker. Nach personellen Differenzen rekrutierte

man den Kanadier David Clayton-Thomas als Sänger. Das zweite

Album Blood. Sweat & Tears (1969) wurde mit 3, 8 Millionen verkauften

Exemplaren auch ein kommerzieller Erfolg und gewann 1970 einen

Grammy als Album des Jahres. Die Bläserarrangements und Bearbeitungen

von Themen klassischer Komponisten setzten Maßstäbe für andere

Gruppen des Jazz- und Brassrock.

Die beiden auf dieser neu gemasterten

Doppel-CD zusammengefassten Alben erschienen 1974 und '75.

Beide konnten sich in den US Top Charts platzieren und auf 'New City' ist

auch der zwischenzeitlich ausgestiegene Sänger David Clayton-Thomas

wieder an Bord.

1974’s ‘Mirror Image’ features three different vocalists, whilst 1975’s ‘New City’ saw original singer David Clayton-Thomas return for a critically-acclaimed, though not commercially successful, album.

Both made the US Top 200 Albums chart, but the days of stunning chart success were over.
