1935 in Atlanta, Georgia geboren, verstarb Benjamin Joy Eidson schon mit 52 Jahren (1988). Schon zu Schulzeiten lernte er seinen Gitarristen »Big« John Taylor kennen, der auf vielen seiner Aufnahmen zu hören ist. »Little Red Book« enthält Songs von 1957 bis 1963, Rockabilly, (Teen) Rock'n'Roll, Pop und Countrysongs. Neben Benny Joys eigenen Aufnahmen sind hier Kollegen wie Marty Robbins, Darrell McCall, Carl Smith, Ray Smith oder Charlie Rich zu hören, die Joy's Songs performen – und letztlich alle bekannter wurden als der Komponist selber.
