Product Information:
A first introduction, and yet complete collection of bands representing the
harder, heavier, more abrasive end of the indie scene. Not metal bands but
bands with gutsy guitar riffs to appeal to the Metal, Doom, and Hardcore
fraternities who find themselves looking for something new. Likewise, bands
accessible enough for the indie kid looking for a step towards a more solid,
hard-rocking scene. The bands featured are all making their names on the
live circuit and were drawn primarily from those playing shows at our
regular New Heavy Sounds Club Nights in London over the last 12 months. A collectable item, hand screen-printed and stickered there are only 300
copies available. Budget priced as a sampler to encourage rapid turnover and collectability - a first come, first served item - and then a follow up
Volume 2. The lineup speaks for itself. There are bands who already have
caused a stir with incendiary live shows, independent singles releases and
more recently critically acclaimed albums such as Pulled Apart By Horses on
Transgressive Records or Rolo Tomassi, originally with Holy Roar Records and now with their second album now on Hassle Records and Kong with Brew Records. There are a clutch of bands from the burgeoning Leeds avant-rock scene, Chickenhawk, Castrovalva, These Monsters, all of whom have released 'break-through' albums in the last six months, and Chickenhawk have received good BBC radio support, played Reading and Leeds Festivals and produced a notorious Zombie promo video for 'I hate this, Do you like it?' massively viewed on YouTube. London is represented strongly by the likes of Invasion, who run their own club 'Skill Wizard' and released a much lauded 'The Master Alchemist' album and , of course, the Japanese quartet Bo Ningen, whose psychedelic live antics have wowed London crowds for months now and whose much anticipated debut album has just been unleashed by Stolen Records. The rest of the lineup are newer but not lesser members of the new cult of the heavy riff, many of whom have already been releasing their own singles. The New Heavy Sounds Club Nights, having been banned from Camden for excessive
volume, continue throughout November at their new venue The Queen of Hoxton in Shoreditch and featuring the likes of Tweakbird from USA, Vessels, Mojo Fury, To The Bones, Bad for Lazarus and a launch night on 7th December featuring Chickenhawk and Turbowolf.
