1985 wurde das bislang erfolgreichste Album von Tuxedomoon veröffentlicht. "Holy Wars" erschien auf den Höhepunkt des Ruhms, den die US-Avantgardeband in Europa genoss. Einige der ergreifendsten und schönsten Songs der Gruppe, die ihr Gründer Blaine Reininger gerade verlassen hatte, finden sich hier wie etwa "Some Guys", "In A Manner Of Speaking", "Bonjour Tristesse" und "Holy Wars". Für Reininger kam der niederländische Trompeter und Harmonikaspieler Luc van Lieshout an Bord. Den Song "Some Guys" wählte Wim Wenders für die Auftaktszene seines Films "Himmel über Berlin".
