Schon zu Lebzeiten galt er als einer der einflussreichsten Singer / Songwriter der USA: Townes Van Zandt (1944-1997) verband in seinen Liedern Einflüsse aus Blues, Folk und Country und diente unendlich vielen Musikern als Vorbild. Er schrieb einige große Country-Hits ("Pancho and Lefty"), seine Songs wurden von Künstlern wie u. a. Willie Nelson, Nanci Griffith, Emmylou Harris, Lyle Lovett, Lucinda Williams gecovert. Als Auftakt einer kompletten Reissue-Reihe veröffentlicht Domino die ersten Alben Townes Van Zandts neu: Beginnend mit den Alben eins bis vier, "For The Sake Of The Song" (1968), "Our Mother The Mountain" (1969), "Townes Van Zandt" (1970) und "Delta Momma Blues" (1971), über das Livealbum "Live At The Old Quarter, Houston, Texas" (1973 / 77), "Flyin' Shoes" (1978) bis zum Soundtrack zur Dokumentation "Be Here To Love Me" (2007).
