Ben Gibbard (Death Cab For Cutie) and Jimmy Tamborello (Dntel) have come together to take an early shot at album of the year. Their collaboration has produced "Give Up", an album of breezy electronic pop that updates classic '80s synth-pop with contemporary beats. The name The Postal Service is a tribute to their method. Tamborello recorded music and mailed the tapes to Gibbard who put down the vocals, which are the perfect complement to this thoroughly modern masterpiece.
