Now resident in Canberra, Australia, former Cousteau vocalist Liam McKahey releases his first solo record this April. Cork-born McKahey recorded the album with a group of musician friends before he left his adopted home of London. In 1999 Global Warming Records released Cousteau's eponymous debut album, which received rave reviews quickly selling out all 3000 copies. The band then signed to Palm Pictures who re-released the album which went on to sell more than 220, 000 copies internation-ally. Cousteau's best known song remains the single 'Last Good Day of the Year' which featured in ad-verts, films and TV around the World. The band released 2 further albums, Sirena (2002) and Nova Scotia (2005). Liam's soothing baritone, often compared to the likes of Scott Walker and Tindersticks' Stuart Staples, prompted Maverick magazine to hail it 'one of the classiest voices in contemporary pop'
