Sardinien bietet eine reiche Vielfalt an traditioneller Musik. Dieses Album enthält einige der wunderbaren Harmoniegesänge von Kindern, Volkslieder und Country-Tänze sowie die seltene Gelegenheit, die Launedda zu hören – ein auf Sardinien einzigartiges Doppelflöteninstrument.
Die wunderschöne Aufnahme entstand 1962 bei Pater Damian Webb, als die von ihm besuchten Dörfer kaum Kontakt zur Außenwelt hatten.
Die Stücke beinhalten ländliche Klänge, ein Männerquartett, Kinder aus Nuoro und Lotzorai, eine Volkstanzgruppe aus Nuoro mit Akkordeon, eine Volksliedgruppe aus Dorgali sowie Volkstanzmusik auf der Launedda und Maultrommel.
