Der Soulsänger Isaac Hayes gilt mit seinem Sprechgesang als Vorläufer des Raps und Hip-Hops. Seine Songs wurden vielfach gesampled (u. a. von Portishead, Jay-Z, Beyoncé feat. The Weeknd). 1971 gelang ihm der weltweite Durchbruch mit dem Titelsong zum Blaxploitation-Film »Shaft«. Der wegweisende Sänger starb 2008 im Alter von 65 Jahren in seinem Haus in Memphis an einem Schlaganfall.
Nun werden Isaac Hayes bekannteste Alben auf Vinyl wiederveröffentlicht: »Hot Buttered Soul« (1969), »Shaft« (2LP / 1971) und »Black Moses« (2LP / 1971).
