Geboren 1935, ist der musikalisch wie auch rein physisch echt gigantische Getatchew Mekurya bis heute aktiv und arbeitete in den vergangenen Jahren v.a. mit der holländischen Avantgarde-Band The Ex (!) zusammen. Bekannt wurde er hierzulande durch sein im Rahmen der „Ethiopiques“-CD-Reihe wiederveröffentlichtes Album „Negus Of Ethiopian Sax, von dem auch die Stücke auf dieser LP stammen.
