Kino für die Ohren

Frida - der Film - ist schön. Gleichwohl ist es eine lohnende Erfahrung, sich über die Rezeption des Filmes hinaus mit Leben und Werk von Frida Kahlo intensiver zu befassen (es gibt gut geschriebene Biographien). Wer Glück hatte, hat die Ausstellung in Berlin (2010) besucht. Als ich den Film gesehen habe und beim Abspann mich auf den Heimweg machen wollte, bin ich sitzen geblieben - überwältigt von der Schlußmusik: das finale "Burn It Blue", gesungen von der großartigen Lila Downs und dem nicht minder beeindruckenden Caetano Veloso. Es endet elegisch ... "Heart running on empty / So lost without you ..." (Mich erinnert diese Passage immer an den "Abschied" aus dem "Lied von der Erde" von G. Mahler, das "...ewig - ewig ..." - weiß auch nicht warum - vielleicht die gleiche wehmütige Stimmung - zum Weinen schön). Aber es geht musikalisch nicht nur getragen einher - im Gegenteil. Kahlo war vieles: Mexikanerin, Künstlerin, Lebenskünstlerin. Marxistin, Leidende, Unersättliche ... Das sieht du nicht nur in den Bildern, sondern hörst du auch in der Filmusik. Unfassbar gut die costa-ricanische Sängerin Chavela Vargas, heute 90 Jahre alt, eine Freundin von Frida Kahlo. Sie bringt nicht nur Momente absoluter Authentizität in den Film (selbst wenn sie den Tod verkörpert), sondern singt - und wie! Ihre Stimme hat immer noch etwas Mädchenhaftes, aber auch etwas grandios Kraftvolles, Eruptives. Unbedingt anhören!
