Das Album wurde am 20. und 21. Oktober 2000 im Madison Square Garden aufgenommen. Obwohl das Album "One Night Only" heißt, wurde es in Wirklichkeit an zwei Abenden aufgenommen. Aufgrund technischer Probleme in der ersten Nacht wurden die meisten Aufnahmen von der zweiten Show übernommen. In den USA wurde das Album im Juli 2001 von der RIAA mit Gold ausgezeichnet.
