Das Doppel-Livealbum von David Gilmour »Live In Gdansk«, produziert von ihm selbst und Phil Manzanera, dokumentiert das Konzert in Danzig und zeigt einen Musiker und seine Band auf dem Höhepunkt ihrer künstlerischen Leistung. Die sechsköpfige Band wird zum einzigen Mal während der gesamten »On An Island«-Tour von einem Orchester unterstützt, nämlich von 40 Streichern des Sinfonieorchesters der Baltischen Philharmonie unter der Leitung von Zbigniew Preisner. Zum ersten Mal werden hier die Pink-Floyd-Hits »High Hopes« und »A Great Day For Freedom« mit Orchester eingespielt, wobei letzteres als Ausnahme nur für das Solidarnosc-Konzert aufgeführt wurde. David Gilmour wurde bei diesem historischen Konzert von weltberühmten Musikern unterstützt: Richard Wright, Phil Manzanera, Guy Pratt, Jon Carin, Steve Di Stanislao und Dick Parry.
