Aus irgendeinem Grund erinnert mich The Chap immer an die New Yorker They Might Be Giants. Vielleicht, weil man sich bei beiden nie sicher sein kann, in welche wunderliche und überraschende Richtung ihre quirligen Songs abdriften werden. Vielleicht ist auch nur meine etwas verschobene und verstaubte Erinnerung an They Might Be Giants Schuld daran. Wie dem auch sei, The Chap, deren vier Mitglieder zu gleichen Teilen in London und Berlin wohnen, haben ihr viertes Album fertig gestellt. Was hier im Büro seit ein paar Tagen bei einigen für spontane Euphorie-Ausbrüche und aufgeregte Schnappatmung sorgt. Das Album trägt den Titel “Well Done Europe” und klingt so ausgelassen fröhlich und augenzwinkernd schräg, wie man es von The Chaps surrealen Pop-Entwurf gewohnt ist. Veröffentlichungstermin auf Lo Recordings ist der 21.Mai. (debug april10)
