In Neuseeland, der Heimat der Soul-Reggae-Band The Black Seeds, heimste deren drittes Album "Into The Dojo" gleich drei Platinauszeichnungen ein. Es erschien dort bereits 2005, war fünf Wochen hintereinander die Nummer eins der neuseeländischen Albumcharts und wurde zwei Jahre später über das deutsche Label Sonar Kollektiv erstmals in Europa veröffentlicht. Die Single "The Answer" und Stücke wie "Cool Me Down" erhielten hierzulande Airplay im Alternative-Radio. Serien-Freaks werden auf dem Song "One By One" Bret McKenzie heraushören. Der Keyboarder und Sänger der Band startete zwei Jahr später mit dem TVComedy- Duo Flight Of The Conchords weltweit Erfolge. "Vollgepackt mit Funk, Reggae, Dub und Good-time-Soul ziehen einen die frischen Pazifik-Grooves sofort in ihren Bann", schrieb "The Metro London".
