Als Mitglied von The Peels, Shark Move und den berühmt-berüchtigten Giant Step hat Benny über die Jahre hinweg vielen Alben seinen Stempel aufgedrückt, darunter die erst kürzlich erschienene „Those Shocking, Shaking Days“- Compilation auf Now Again.

Mitte der 70er Jahre nahm Benny Soloalben auf, die manche für die beste Musik halten, die jemals aus der Gegend kam. Mit Unterstützung des britischen Dichters Bob Dook hat Benny englischsprachige Songs aufgenommen, deren unglaubliches Musik-Können und Melodien fast schon progressiv klingen.

Mit seiner fast unbekannten Band Lizard (bei denen sich Mitglieder von Giant Step und Harry Roesli’s Philosophy Gang vergnügten) reichen seine Soloaufnahmen in punkto Qualität an seine anderen Bands heran, stehen jedoch als progressive Musik auf eigenen Beinen.

Fast hätte es in den 70ern als Mitglied von Giant Step zu einem Plattenvertrag mit Virgin UK geführt – das Talent von Benny Soebardja hätte schon längst für Berühmtheit gesorgt, wenn er nicht in den Tiefen von Indonesien beheimatet wäre.

Hier kommen seine drei eigenständig gepressten Alben – „Lizard“, „Gut Rock“, „Night Train“ – zum ersten Mal zusammen.

The self-proclaimed founder of the private press scene, Benny Soebardja is one of the most important figures from the Indonesian music industry. Having been a member of bands such as ¶he Peels', 3 hark Move' and the infamous iant Step', Benny left his mark across many memorable albums throughout the years, including his contributions to the recent Those Shocking, Shaking Days compilation on Now Again. During the mid 70's, Benny also recorded solo efforts, which many regard as some of the best music to ever surface from the region. With the help of British poet Bob Dook, Benny recorded numerous English based songs filled with incredible musicianship and melodies that have an underlying progressive nature. Backed by the almost unknown izard' (which contained members of both iant Step' and Harry Roesli's 0 hilosophy Gang'), his solo efforts are in line with the sound of his other bands, yet stand on their own as a unique progressive offering. Having almost been signed to Virgin Records UK in the 70's as a part of Giant Step, his talents were apparent and would be world renown by this time if not for his music being lost within Indonesia all these years. Here, for the first time we present to you his first three private press solo efforts, Lizard, Gut Rock and Night Train.
