Awesome Color came out of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Singer / guitarist Derek Stanton grew up across the street from Scott "Rock Action" Asheton of The Stooges. Derek learned a few things abut rock n' roll. Things he'll never forget. Him and drummer Allison Busch and bassist Michael Troutman jumped in their bombed out car and set up shop in Brooklyn. And began to blow minds. Live they're a heavy cosmic guitar kill with a rhythmsection coming through like a freight train. When they play they are joined by brothers and sisters grabbing instruments and getting loud. Sax in the audience, playing guitar with bare feet, and wolf dances all go down. "Some of the group's songs evoke Sabbath as played by Germans in the 0s, with Stanton's terse riffs cruising atop crisp, loping grooves provided by bassist Michael Troutman and drummer Allison Busch. Other tunescome across like lean, airy impressions of classic Southern rock (the three met in Ann Arbor, Michigan-the northernmost Southern state- before setting up together in Bushwick).
