Das Olympia ist nicht nur die erste Adresse in Paris, wenn es um Live-Musik geht, sondern auch die älteste Music Hall der französischen Hauptstadt. In dem 1888 errichteten Haus traten schon Diven wie Joséphine Baker, Édith Piaf, Juliette Gréco und Diana Krall auf, aber auch Jazzmusiker wie Sidney Bechet, Louis Armstrong, Quincy Jones und Frank Sinatra. Und stets scheint es, dass etwas von der Magie dieser historischen Konzertstätte auf die Perfomance der dort auftretenden Künstler abfärbt und sie zu Höchstleistungen inspiriert. So wie die einzigartige Melody Gardot, deren Name alleine schon Musik ist.
Ihr rund zweistündiges Konzert vom Oktober 2015 im Olympia wurde für die Nachwelt aufgezeichnet und wird nun simultan auf DVD und Blu-ray-Disc veröffentlicht. Bei dem Auftritt legte Melody den Fokus auf das Repertoire ihrer beiden Erfolgsalben »Currency Of Man« (2015) und »My One And Only Thrill« (2009). Mit ihrer exzellenten Band gab die Sängerin, die selbst auch am Klavier und an der Gitarre zu hören ist, Publikumsfavoriten wie »Same To You«, »Baby I'm A Fool«, »Who Will Comfort Me«, »Preacherman«, »Les Étoiles« und »She Don't Know« zum Besten.
