Die aus Leipzig stammende Pianistin Jutta Hipp schrieb 1956 ein kleines Stückchen Jazzgeschichte, als Blue Note sie als erste Musikerin aus Europa unter Vertrag nahm. Als erstes wurde für das Label während eines sechsmonatigen (!) Engagements im Hickory House Club in New York ein kompletter Trio-Auftritt aufgezeichnet, der auf zwei separaten Alben veröffentlicht wurde. Dabei stellte sie sich als von Horace Silver beeinflusste Pianistin mit einem reinen Standards-Programm zwischen Hardbop und frühem Soul-Jazz vor.
