This 1961 album features the signature sound that Lou Donaldson established in 1957 and hit pay dirt a year later with “Blues Walk.” Fronting a quintet with Herman Forster’s piano, bass, drums, and congas, this rich-toned, Bird-inspired alto saxophonist digs into soulful blues and lyrical standards. Alternate takes of the title tune and “Glory of Love” have been added to the original album.
