Dieses wenig bekannte, aber bemerkenswerte Album von Chet Baker vereint Instrumental- und Gesangsstücke, die alle von dem Swing und der emotionalen Tiefe geprägt sind, die seine besten Aufnahmen auszeichnen.
Um die Qualitäten dieser meisterhaften Session voll zur Geltung zu bringen, wurde eine hochwertige Remastering-Bearbeitung durchgeführt, die die Wärme und Intimität der legendären Château d’Hérouville-Studios wiederherstellt, in denen auch Künstler wie David Bowie und Pink Floyd zu Gast waren. Aufgenommen am 29. Dezember 1978 im Château d’Hérouville mit Jean-Louis Rassinfosse am Bass, Jeff Brillinger am Schlagzeug und Phil Markowitz am Klavier, am 8. Dezember 1979 in den Studios Davout abgemischt, wurde 'Two A Day' seit 1980 nicht mehr auf Vinyl wiederveröffentlicht.
Chet Baker was an immense jazzman, in the category of “they don’t make ‘em like that any more.” He is one of those rare musicians who played ‘his’ music the way you and I live our lives. An inveterate ladies’ man, Chet Baker knew how to tell secrets, existential, poorly timed confessions, culminating in simple, naked, unbruised beauty. In this marvelous CD, recorded ten years before his death, with the help of an unsung but excellent pianist (Phil Markowitz), we rediscover the art of this iconic trumpet player. Chet whispers to us with his voice and his trumpet, ingredients in his timeless music, which even after his death continues to disconcert and delight us.
