Auf seinem neuen Album "Big Sur" widmet sich Frisell wieder ganz dem Jazz und hat dafür 20 Songs komponiert. Die Inspiration hat er von der Glen Deven Ranch in Big Sur in Kalifornien bekommen.
Produziert von Lee Townsend, wurde Frisell bei der Aufnahme auch von Jenny Scheinman (Violine), Carrie Rodriguez (Fidel und Tenorgitarre), Eyvind Kang (Viola), Hank Roberts (Cello) und Rudy Royston (Schlagzeug) unterstützt.
