Um eine neue, eigens für das Projekt erstellte Orchesterfassung von Schuberts Streichquartett D 810 »Der Tod und das Mädchen« hat Patricia Kopatchinskaya ein klug durchdachtes Programm ersonnen, das verschiedene Aspekte des Todes in der Musik berücksichtigt: die Tradition des mittelalterlichen Totentanzes oder die Musik des Doppelmörders Don Carlo Gesualdo da Venosa. In ihr ebenso schlüssiges wie spannendes Konzeptalbum hat die Ausnahmekünstlerin zudem zeitgenössische Musik von György Kurtág integriert.
