Auf „The Fall“ schlägt Norah eine neue Richtung ein. Sie experimentiert mit den unterschiedlichsten Sounds und arbeitet mit vielen neuen Kreativpartnern zusammen, darunter der renommierte Produzent/Toningenieur Jacquire King, der bereits mit Kings of Leon, Tom Waits und Modest Mouse im Studio war.
Norah Jones gab darüber hinaus preis, dass diesmal unter anderem Ryan Adams, Will Sheff (Okkervil River) und auch wieder Jesse Harris als Co-Autoren mitgewirkt haben. Jacquire King half Jones, für die Studioaufnahmen eine neue Band zusammenzustellen, zu ihr gehören die Schlagzeuger Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M.) und James Gadson (Bill Withers), Keyboarder James Poyser (Erykah Badu, Al Green) und die Gitarristen Marc Ribot (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello) und Smokey Hormel (Johnny Cash, Joe Strummer).
"For this record, I just had a sound in my head," says Norah Jones. "I wanted the grooves to be more present and heavy. And I also just wanted to do something different-I've been hanging with the same group of musicians for a long time, and I thought it was a good time for me to work with different people and experiment a little."
