Puccinis Tosca ist aus dem heutigen Opernrepertoire nicht mehr wegzudenken, aber selten war eine Oper so brutal: Mord, Folter und Liebe, Eifersucht und Leidenschaft – alles ist in Hülle und Fülle vorhanden. Bei seiner Entstehung im Jahr 1900 sorgte dieser vertonte Thriller für erhebliche Kontroversen, allerdings eher wegen der politischen Protagonisten. Erst viel später wurde die Geschichte um die tief religiöse Tosca, den leidenschaftlichen Cavaradossi und den sadistischen Scarpia als das psychologische Drama interpretiert, als das es gedacht war. Marc Albrecht leitet das ORF Radio-Symphonieorchesters Wien, Kristīne Opolais, Jonathan Tetelman und Gábor Bretz brillieren in den Hauptollen.
