In this case, however, the sound does not differ from that of a normal CD. In case of deviations, we point this out separately (non-hybrid).

Der in der Nähe von Manchester geborene John Nicholson Ireland machte schon früh durch seine Begabung enorme Fortschritte im Orgelspiel und wurde zu seiner Zeit mit 18 das jüngste Mitglied des Royal College of Organists, wo er später – neben seiner Stelle als Organist und Chorleiter an der Kirche St. Luke's Church in Chelsea – auch Kompositionsprofessor wurde. Erstaunlicherweise nehmen aber in seinem kompositorischen Schaffen die Orgelwerke einen geringen Platz ein – sie füllen mal gerade eine CD. Nichtsdestotrotz zeichnen sich all diese der klassisch-romantischen Tradition entsprungenen Werke durch eine hohe Qualität aus. Besonders herausragend und ausdrucksvoll im brahmsischen Sinne ist seine Elegiac Romance, aber auch die anderen Stücke zeigen Irelands ganze Ausdruckspalette von meditativ, lyrisch, über geradezu »hitverdächtig« (seine Cavatina) bis unterhaltend. Der Organist und Kantor am Münster zu Herford Stefan Kagl interpretiert diese vielschichtigen Stücke, die dadurch hoffentlich diese wunderbare Musik wieder in das Bewusstsein der Hörer rücken mögen!

John Nicholson Ireland's enormous talent enabled him to make great progress in organ playing quite early, and at the age of eighteen this English composer born near Manchester became the youngest member of the Royal College of Organists. He later held a professorship in composition there while also serving as organist and choir director at St. Luke's Church in Chelsea. Astonishingly, however, organ compositions account for only a small portion of his oeuvre – just enough for a CD program. All of these compositions born of the classical-romantic tradition are nevertheless distinguished by high quality. Ireland's Elegiac Romance is especially magnificent and highly expressive in the Brahmsian sense, and his other pieces exhibit an expressive palette ranging from the meditative and lyrical to hit potential (the Cavatina) and pure entertainment. Stefan Kagl, the organist and choirmaster at the Herford Minster, interprets these multifaceted pieces – toward the goal of once again making this wonderful music known to listening audiences!

Die durch zahlreiche Umbau- und Erweiterungsmaßnahmen ab dem Jahr 2002 nun im Herforder Münster vorhandene Orgel ist vermutlich eines der gelungensten Instrumente für die Umsetzung englischer Orgelmusik des ausgehenden 19. und vor allem 20. Jahrhunderts jenseits der ›Insel‹.
