Auf ihrem zweiten Chandos-Album widmen sich Freddie Crowley und sein Corvus Consort – begleitet von der Harfenistin Louise Thomson – Chorwerken, die für Frauenstimmen und Harfe geschrieben wurde. Gustav Holst war ein Verfechter der Frauenstimmen und unterrichtete an mehreren Mädchenschulen, am bekanntesten an der St Paul’s Girls’ School in Hammersmith, wo er fast dreißig Jahre lang tätig war. Sein Beitrag zu diesem Genre wird durch drei Werke repräsentiert: Östliche Bilder, Dirge und Hymeneal, und vor allem seine Choralhymnen aus dem Rig Veda. Diese Werke bilden den Rahmen für den Großteil des Programms, das überwiegend von britischen Frauen geschrieben wurde. Werke von Imogen Holst und Elizabeth Poston führen uns zu den jüngeren Generationen – Judith Weir, Gemma McGregor, Olivia Sparkhall und Hilary Campbell. Die indische Komponistin Shruthi Rajasekar wurde eingeladen, für dieses Programm zu komponieren, und zwar als Antwort auf die dritte Gruppe von Gustav Holsts Choral Hymns. Ushās – Goddess of Dawn und Priestess fügen ein aufregendes neues Repertoire hinzu.
