Neun Jahre nach ihrem ersten Album auf CHANDOS präsentieren der Tenor James Gilchrist und die Pianistin Anna Tilbrook ihre neue CD ›Songs of Travel‹. Unterstützt werden sie dabei von Philip Dukes, der von ›The Times‹ als »Großbritanniens hervorragendster Bratschist« gelobt wurde. Im Zentrum der Aufnahme stehen fünf herrliche Lieder für Singstimme, Viola und Klavier, in denen Vaughan Williams die ganzen Klangmöglichkeiten dieser Besetzung ausschöpft. Ferner ist der frische und lebhafte Liederzyklus ›Songs of Travel‹ zu hören, der zwischen 1901 und 1904 entstanden ist. Eine rundum gelungene Produktion mit sehr selten zu hörenden Werken des britischen Komponisten.
