Nurejews »Dornröschen« auf der Bühne des Teatro alla Scala wiederbelebt
Rudolf Nurejew flüchtete Anfang der 1960er Jahre in den Westen und trat fortan an den bedeutenden Bühnen (West-) Europas auf: London, Paris, New York und Mailand. An der Mailänder Scala brachte er 1966 seine faszinierende Choreografie von Tschaikowskys »Dornröschen« auf die Bühne. Von Marus Petipa ursprünglicher Choreografie, die er am Kirov erlernt hatte, behielt Nurejew die außerordentliche Reinheit im Ausdruck bei, ergänzte sie aber mit deutlich mehr Dramatik und Theatralik. Das Ergebnis macht die psychologischen Nuancen der Protagonisten sichtbar und macht aus den Bühnenfiguren glaubwürdige Charaktere.
2019 brachte das Ballett des Teatro alla Scala Nurejews epochale Choreografie erneut auf die Bühne. Für das Bühnenbild zeichnete sich Oskar-Preisträgerin Franca Squarciapino verantwortlich. Polina Semionova und Timofej Andrijashenko in den Hauptrollen wurden von der Presse gefeiert.
