SACD (Super Audio CD)

The SACD uses a higher digital resolution than the audio CD and also offers the possibility to store multi-channel sound (surround sound). To enjoy the music in high-end quality, a special SACD player is required. Thanks to the hybrid function, most of the products marked "SACD" in our store can also be played on conventional CD players. In this case, however, the sound does not differ from that of a normal CD. In case of deviations, we point this out separately (non-hybrid).

Blu-ray Audio

The Blu-ray Audio Disc (also Pure Audio Blu-ray) is technically a normal Blu-ray Disc and can be played on any Blu-ray player. However, it does not contain any video content. The high storage capacity is used for high-resolution audio data (stereo and surround, up to 24 bit/192 kHz). It is operated either without a screen like a conventional CD or via the onscreen menu like a normal Blu-ray disc.

Schon die Vorankündigung, dass Debussys Pelléas et Mélisande mit Simon Rattle am Dirigierpult auf CD erscheinen wird, löste Begeisterung und zahllose Vorbestellungen aus. Dies liegt nicht nur an Rattle, sondern auch an den übrigen Mitstreitern der Produktion: Zum einen sind dies Magdalena Kožená und Christian Gerhaher, zum anderen das famose London Symphony Orchestra und der London Symphony Chorus.
