Darius Battiwalla, Leeds City Organist, spielt als Hauptwerk dieses Albums die selten vollständig gehörte und aufgenommene, großformatige Sonate in c-Moll von Percy Whitlock (Spieldauer 45 min.!) auf der viermanualigen kraftvollen und klanglich fein abgestuften J. J.Binns-Orgel (offener 32' im Pedal; 53 Register) des Rathauses von Rochdale. Die SACD beginnt mit Lynnwood Farnams »Toccata« und enthält Fela Sowandos »Kyrie« und eine kleine Nummer von Percy Grainger: »Blithe Bells«, inspiriert von Bach. Diese Aufnahme wurde im 384-kHz-DXD-Stereo- und Surround-Sound-Format aufgenommen und vom Grammy-Gewinner Bastiaan Kuijt in DSD und DSD Surround konvertiert.

Super Leistung - Super Sound!

Herausragende Leistung von Darius Battiwalla auf einem überlebensgroßen Oran in Rochdale, in der Nähe von Manchester UK. Die Scheibe beginnt mit einer kurzen Toccata von Linwood Farnham, und die wahre Kraft dieser Orgel wird erlebbar. Percy Whitlock ist sehr englisch, aber mit skandinavischen Einflüssen. Die Musik nimmt einen dunkleren afrikanischen Ton aus dem Kyrie von Fela Sowande auf, der öffnende 32ft offene Holzbass lässt den Raum erzittern. Unglaublicher Sound auf SACD-Mehrkanal sowie Stereo - lohnt sich für Ihre Sammlung.
