Callas gestaltete die Rolle mit sehr viel Feingefühl neu, als Luchino Visconti 1955 das Werk für sie an der Scala inszenierte. Diese Aufnahme entstand zwei Jahre später, als Viscontis Produktion wiederaufgenommen wurde.
