La Dirindina von Domenico Scarlatti und Pimpinone von Albinoni sind zwei »Intermezzi buffi«, komische Opernzwischenspiele, die zwischen Akten oder Szenen einer Opera seria eingefügt wurden.
Pimpinone wurde 1708 in Venedig zum ersten Mal aufgeführt, als Zwischenspiel zu Astarto, Albinonis eigener Opera seria. Das Werk war ein sofortiger Erfolg und wurde sowohl in Italien als auch im Ausland viele weitere Male aufgeführt. La Dirindina wurde sieben Jahre später, 1715, von Domenico Scarlatti, dem Sohn von Alessandro, komponiert.
Beide Intermezzi sind erste Videoaufnahmen, gefilmt in High Definition und im Bildformat 16: 9 mit Stereo-PCM-Sound.
