Drei Jahrzehnte lang war Frandsen Chefdirigent des königlichen Theaters in Kopenhagen. Er führte flexible Tempi, breite Phrasierungen und vielfältige orchestrale Klangfarben in seine Interpretationen ein. Diese neu zusammengestellte Werkauswahl vereint Aufnahmen aus den 1950ern für Columbia, Odeon und Philips. Darunter dänische Klassiker wie Gades »Echoes of Ossian« und eine inspirierte Interpretation von Brahms' 4. Symphonie.
