Che Originali! Ist eine wenig bekannte, ein-aktige Farce basierend auf einem Libretto von Gaetano Rossi, die hier erstmals überhaupt erhältlich ist. Das Werk avancierte schnell zu einem der erfolgreichsten Werke von Giovanni Simone Mayr, dem Lehrer von Donizetti. Die Geschichte von Don Febeo, der in seinem Haus darauf besteht, dass jeder Musik kennen und lieben muss, wird mitreißend dargeboten u. a. von Bruno de Simone als Febeo. Musikliebhaber dürften angesichts dieser Wiederentdeckung eines musikalischen Kleinods begeistert sein.
Ergänzt wird dieses Werk mit Donizettis Pigmalione. Pigmalione war Gaetano Donizettis erste Oper, die er erst 19-jährig innerhalb von zwei Wochen zu einem Libretto von Simeone Antonio Sografi komponierte. Donizetti selbst definierte das Werk als »lyrische Szene«. Es ist seine einzige Oper, die auf einem mythologischen Stoff basiert – erzählt wird die Geschichte eines Bildhauers, dessen Skulptur zum Leben erwacht. Antonino Siragusa in der Titelrolle begeistert mit seiner meisterhaften Interpretation und glänzenden und farbreichen Stimme, vor allem in den Rezitativen. Die japanische Sopranistin Aya Wakizono gibt mit ihrer reizvollen Stimme eine mitreißende Galatea. Pigmaleone ist bei Dynamic erstmals auf DVD und Blu-ray erhältlich.
