Thomas Weelkes, der als einer der besten Komponisten der Tudorzeit gefeiert wird, war Organist und Chorleiter am Winchester College und an der Kathedrale von Chichester. Obwohl er für seine Madrigale berühmt ist, schrieb er mehr anglikanische Gottesdienste als jeder andere bedeutende Komponist seiner Zeit.
Aufgeführt vom professionellen irischen Vokalensemble Resurgam mit dem English Cornett & Sackbut Ensemble, feiert dieses Album die geistliche Musik dieses produktiven Komponisten im Jahr des 400. Todestages Weelkes.
