Die sechs Concerti grossi op. 7 von Francesco Geminiani gleichen einer musikalischen Wundertüte: jedes der sechs Werke wartet mit mindestens einer Überraschung auf, sei sie nun formaler, stilistischer oder struktureller Natur. Janusköpfig blickt die Musik sowohl nach vorne als auch zurück. Mit den Musikern von Café Zimmermann fragt man sich unweigerlich, weshalb man die Concerti grossi op. 7 so lange zu Gunsten der zwar auch interessanten, aber weitaus konventionelleren Concerti der Opera 2 & 3 vernachlässigt hat.
