Willem de Fesch (1687-1761) ist flämischer Abstammung, wurde aber in der niederländischen Stadt Alkmaar geboren. Sein Oratorium Joseph wurde 1745 in Covent Garden urauf-geführt. Es ist in der Tradition der großen Händel-Oratorien geschrieben und enthält Rezitative, dramatische Arien sowie Duette und Chöre.
