Bühnen-Spektakel ohnegleichen!
800 Liter Wasser, zwei riesige Segel, 30 Flaschenzüge und 60 Hängematten: Für das 200-jährige Bestehen des Teatro Real Madrid hat Regisseurin Deborah Warner eine wahrhaft kolossale Produktion entworfen! Die Aufführung wurde aber nicht nur wegen ihrer herausragenden Schauwerte gelobt, sondern vor allem auch wegen ihres starken emotionalen Zugangs zu Brittens bis heute kontroversem Sujet.
Brittens Oper, die zwischen den Polen von Schuld und Unschuld, Liebe und Perversion, Verantwortung und Triebhaftigkeit changiert, ist selten vielschichtiger und intelligenter ausgedeutet worden als von Deborah Warner. Mit einer fast ausschließlich britischen Besetzung und Ivor Bolton im Orchestergraben lässt auch die musikalische Seite der Produktion in nichts zu wünschen übrig.
Ein Spektakel ohnegleichen, das in geradezu idealer Weise großes, effektreiches Theater und musikalische Sorgfalt miteinander verquickt.
