Autonomiebestrebungen
Zu den wichtigsten Vertretern der frühen autonomen Instrumentalmusik gehören Giovanni Battista Fontana (ca. 1571-ca. 1630) und Giovanni Battista Buonamente (ca. 1595-1642). William Dongois und Le Concert Brisé stellen in ihrer hinreißend musizierten Einspielung mit Sonaten und Tanzsätzen der beiden Komponisten eine faszinierende Musik vor, die in ausgesprochen kreativer Weise die neuesten Errungenschaften der Florentiner Camerata in der Vokalmusik für die noch junge Instrumentalmusik zu nutzen wussten.
