Messe g-moll
The SACD uses a higher digital resolution than the audio CD and also offers the possibility to store multi-channel sound (surround sound). To enjoy the music in high-end quality, a special SACD player is required. Thanks to the hybrid function, most of the products marked "SACD" in our store can also be played on conventional CD players. In this case, however, the sound does not differ from that of a normal CD. In case of deviations, we point this out separately (non-hybrid).

Vaughan Williams Messe g-Moll bezieht sich auf die Tudor-Komponisten und setzte neue Standards in englischer a cappella-Komposition; sie ist Gustav Holst gewidmet, »Silence and Music« entstand zur Krönungsfeier von Königin Elizabeth II.
Wie Vaughan Williams Messe schöpft auch James MacMillans Motette »O bone Jesu« aus dem Geist vergangener Jahrhunderte. Als Inspirationsquelle diente dem 1959 in Kilwinning, Schottland, geborenen MacMillan die gleichnamige Motette seines Landsmannes Robert Carvors (um 1484 / 1487-1567).
In »Màiri« hat MacMillan schottisch-gälische Gedichte von Evan MacColl (1808-1898) vertont. Das betont atmosphärisch komponierte Werk wird durch starke Kontraste charakterisiert.
