Die Solistin der vorliegenden Wiederveröffentlichung Abbie Conant ist eine der führenden Posaunistinnen unserer Zeit. Sie gibt mit ihrer Werkauswahl Einblick in 400 Jahre Stilvielfalt vom Barock bis zur Moderne und präsentiert in ihren gelungenen Interpretationen die Posaune als ein facettenreiches Soloinstrument. Bereits in der Barockzeit war die Posaune ein beliebtes Melodie- und Soloinstrument und wurde gerne zur Ausführung von Canzonen und Sonaten herangezogen, die der barocken Musizierpraxis folgend variabel besetzt werden konnten. Die Vielfalt der klanglichen Möglichkeiten der Posaune veranlasste auch Komponisten späterer Epochen immer wieder, Werke für dieses Solo-Instrument zu schreiben. Die eingespielten Werke von Cesare, Händel, Marcello, Krebs, Guilmant, Helmschrott und Ives zeigen die Posaune als Solo-Instrument im Wandel der Zeit. 1980 wurde Abbie Conant als Solo-Posaunistin der Münchner Philharmoniker unter Sergiu Celibidache verpflichtet. Die Geschichte ihres langjährigen Kampfes um gleiche Bezahlung und Behandlung wie ihre männlichen Orchesterkollegen ging durch Presse und Fernsehen und machte sie zusätzlich bekannt. Abbie Conant tritt weltweit als Solistin mit Orchestern und in Soloabenden auf, ebenso als Dozentin, Improvisationskünstlerin und Schauspielerin. Seit 1992 ist Abbie Conant Professorin an der Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik in Trossingen. Klemens Schnorr ist Professor für Orgel an der Musikhochschule Freiburg, Domorganist am Münster und Gastdozent der Italienischen Orgelakademie Pistoia. Er ist Preisträger der internationalen Orgelwettbewerbe in Avila, Bologna, Innsbruck, München (ARD-Wettbewerb) und Nijmegen. Bis zu seiner Berufung nach Freiburg wirkte er als Kirchenmusiker, Dozent und Orgelsachverständiger in Würzburg und München. Neben seiner Lehr- und Konzerttätigkeit betätigt sich Klemens Schnorr auch als Bearbeiter und Herausgeber.
The soloist of the reissue Abbie Conant is one of the leading trombonists of our times. Her choice of repertoire for this CD includes 400 years of stylistic variety from baroque to modern times. In her successful interpretations she presents the trombone as a diverse solo-instrument. Already in the baroque period the trombone was a popular melody instrument. It was widely used for the performance of Sonatas and Canzonas following the baroque practise to interchange the melody instruments flexibly. The diverse sound of the trombone prompted also composers of later periods to write works for this solo instrument consistently. The works by Cesare, Händel, Marcello, Krebs, Guilmant, Helmschrott and Ives present the trombone as a solo instrument through the centuries. In 1980 Abbie Conant won the solo chair of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra under Sergiu Celibidache. The story of her long lasting struggle for equal treatment and pay as her male colleagues in the Munich Philharmonic appeared in the press as well as on TV and raised her reputation additionally. Abbie Conant performs internationally as a concerto soloist, recitalist, improviser and performance artist. Since 1992 Abbie Conant is professor at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Trossingen / Germany. Klemens Schnorr is professor at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg / Germany, cathedral organist at the Minster and guest lecturer at the Italian Organ Academy in Pistoia. He won the international organ competitions in Avila, Bologna, Innsbruck, Munich (ARD Competition) and Nijmwegen. Before accepting his post in Freiburg, he was a church musician, lecturer and organ specialist in Würzburg and Munich. Alongside his teaching and performing activities, Klemens Schnorr is also an author and editor.
