The SACD uses a higher digital resolution than the audio CD and also offers the possibility to store multi-channel sound (surround sound). To enjoy the music in high-end quality, a special SACD player is required. Thanks to the hybrid function, most of the products marked "SACD" in our store can also be played on conventional CD players. In this case, however, the sound does not differ from that of a normal CD. In case of deviations, we point this out separately (non-hybrid).

Vorausahnungen höchster Meisterschaft
Mit dem sechsten Band ist Michael Korstick in seinem weitgehend chronologisch aufgebauten Beethoven-Zyklus an einem Wendepunkt angelangt: In diesen Werken gibt Beethoven einen Ausblick auf seine weitere Entwicklung bis zur höchsten Meisterschaft des Spätwerks. Die Sonate op. 28 entfernt sich allmählich von dem klassischen Charakterpaar der Haupt- und Nebenthematik zugunsten einer durchgängigen motivischen Entwicklung.
Die beiden Variationswerke hat Beethoven selbst als »ganz neu« bezeichnet. Opus 34 zeigt eine neue Entwicklungsstufe der Variationsform: Jede Variation steht in einer eigenen Tonart und verkörpert einen individuellen musikalischen Typus. Opus 35 schließlich greift zu den Sternen und lotet extreme Gestaltungsformen aus, die grandiose Schlussfuge weist bereits auf die Hammerklaviersonate op. 106.
