Die Kunst der Adaption

Marriners kammermusikalisch-konzertante Variante dieser Bachschen Fugenkünste klingt im Vergleich zu der eigenwillig-inbrünstigen
von Hermann Scherchen romantisierend verdeutlichenden Darbietung doch sehr klassisch ausgewogen in den Ausführungen der Contrapuncti, unspektakulär moderat und dezent in der solistischen wie instrumentalen Stimmführung.
Man spürt, Marriners Respekt vor dem Notenkosmos, der in seiner Ausgabe (Besetzung) in St.Martin in the Fields aufspielt wird.
Und die hier audiophil aufbereitete Fassung klingt in den Stimmen konturierter und besser räumlich strukturiert als in der alten Philips Ausgabe. Damals noch wenig hist.informiert und instrumentiert ähnelt Marriners Fassung doch schon den später folgenden a la Goebel und seiner Musica Antiqua oder auch Harnoncourt, die musikalisch wie aufführungstechnisch doch erste Wahl bleiben, auch bzgl. einer annähernd authentischen Bachnähe.
Dennoch, eine hörenswerte und klangschöne Aufnahme der 'Kunst der Fuge'.
