Am Ende des Jahrhunderts war die Situation umgekehrt: England war die Nation, nach der alle anderen strebten, und seine Spieler waren in ganz Europa zu finden.
Die Musik auf dieser Aufnahme stammt aus dieser glorreichen Zeit des Prunks und des Nationalstolzes und bringt den bezaubernden Klang und die virtuose Bandbreite der bemerkenswerten Instrumente, die heutzutage nur noch selten zu hören sind, von Zink und Sackbutt zur Geltung.
