Puccinis Triptychon Il trittico besteht aus drei kontrastierenden Opern, die aber aufgrund der aufeinander abgestimmten Dramaturgie und der Musik auch als Gesamtkunstwerk aufgeführt werden können.
Meist jedoch wird auf die ersten beiden Teile verzichtet und nur auf die komödiantische Oper Gianni Schicchi zurückgegriffen. In der vorliegenden Produktion aus dem Teatro Comunale di Modena wird der gesamte Opernzyklus, so wie es Puccini einst vorgesehen hatte, unter der musikalischen Leitung von Julian Reynolds aufgeführt.
In allen drei Teilen übernimmt Amarilli Nizza die weibliche Hauptrolle, die mit ihrem Gesang und dem Schauspiel das Publikum überzeugt. Begleitet von Alberto Mastromarino und Annamaria Chiuri konnten weitere exzellente Sänger für diese Aufführung gewonnen werden.
