Für mich ist er der modernste Komponist der Vergangenheit.... Seine Musik hat nichts Kompaktes, nichts Gewolltes, sondern atmet wie ein Organismus. Nicht Wollen, sondern Sich-gehen-lassen, Fließen, Weichheit, filigrane Subtilität. Adriana Hölszky Schuberts "große" C-dur Sinfonie Nr. 8 ist kein Werk des Abschieds, in dem sich das nahende Ende des Komponisten bereits ankündigt, sondern im Gegenteil eine Sinfonie, die voll junger Frische und Bestimmtheit nach vorne weist. Sie ist der Durchbruch Schuberts zu einem eigenständigen Sinfoniekonzept jenseits von Beethovens aufgeladener Dramatik und Monumentalität. Die vorliegenden LP setzt die Reihe der historischen Aufnahmen mit Rafael Kubelik und dem Symphonie-Orchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks im 180g Vinyl Format fort. Und, ehrlich gesagt, Schuberts große C-Dur-Symphonie und der Mahler-Zyklus unter Rafael Kubeliks Leitung mit dem phänomenal aufspielenden Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks klingen in dieser Form noch reicher, schöner, voller, runder. Ganz abgesehen davon, dass diese Edition uns auch mit künstlerisch vollendeten Interpretationen eines großen Dirigenten konfrontiert. (Die Presse)
